A weekend of meditation with the one and only Dr Joe Dispenza

Updated: Apr 10

I first found out about Dr Joe Dispenza on Youtube while he was doing an interview on a podcast channel. After hearing him speak, he changed my whole outlook and perspective on life. Most notably, he taught me that our body harbors feelings from the thoughts we think. Over time these feelings can produce long term effects on our body’s that can lead to chronic diseases. In a nutshell, our thoughts could make us sick. I learned from him that we need to teach the body the positive feelings that really matter, those of  love and gratitude, because if our thoughts can make us sick then the opposite must be true as well- our thoughts can make us better and that was a mind blowing realization. I immediately wanted to heal, I wanted to get better and so, I searched and found his GOLOV meditation on Youtube. During the meditation I was guided to relax and then place my attention on my heart and draw the feelings of love by simply thinking of someone you love. I felt it and I concentrated on it and the feeling became stronger and stronger until I started to quite literally bawl my eyes out from the feelings in my heart radiating throughout my body. The feeling was so powerful and real and the person I was thinking about was not even there. How did the feelings come about? Apparently, I made them all by myself all alone in my little room. It blew my mind to think that I didn't need anyone to make me feel the emotions I desired to feel. I could do that for myself. After that first meditation, I vowed to do it everyday for the next 30 days to see what kind of change I might feel or see in my body.

“Your brain is not the record of the past but a map to your future.” - Dr Joe Dispenza

Everytime I did the meditation I got deeper and deeper and started to visualize other things that made me feel love and gratitude. My desired future and how I want to spend the rest of my life appeared in my imagination. I am not married or have any children and I saw myself surrounded by my family in a big beautiful house on the beach, laughing with my children and my parents. When I see that vision, I feel so much love and gratitude. I realized that's what I wanted in life, that is my happiness.

I often feel that we base our decisions, the moves we make in life, on our past and what we have always been doing or taught to do. It was so amazing to see and learn that you do not have to be your past, you can be anything you want to be. You can write the script, you are the creator of your life. You can choose different things- have different thoughts and I noticed, I was breaking the habit of being myself and not living unconsciously anymore. I was awake. I was actively making choices in my life and not succumbing to just my feelings or thoughts. I was living outside of my mind and body. Something would happen to me and it was as if life slowed down for me. I felt like Spiderman in the first movie where someone throws something at him in school and everything slows down where he could see it passing by him so clearly. It was incredible.

I truly felt changed, I felt more love and happiness in my day to day and it was noticeable too! After a couple months of doing medications centered on love, I traveled home for a friend’s birthday party and while reconnecting with her friends, I noticed I was more open and loving. People told me I was radiating and I felt very grateful and present the entire time filled with so much peace.

Knocked Out of Love

Following the birthday, I traveled to Egypt for 6 weeks to visit family and unfortunately stopped doing my meditations. It knocked me off my rhythm and I got sucked into family drama and I was soon living unconsciously again. I felt uncentered and I just knew something was off. As soon as I got back to the States I did my meditations again but I was not consistent. I also was not monitoring my thoughts as I normally do. I was so strong and confident in what I learned before I left home that I even made a youtube video about it: https://youtu.be/PGfUZkvpJJc?si=gK34M2XLHNE5eObe, but for some reason I was still struggling to get back into it.

Dr Joe Dispenza Progressive Conference - Los Angeles 2025

Before leaving home, I booked Dr Joe Dispenza’s progressive conference set for Los Angeles that was later moved to March due to the fires. I knew that his teachings were not so different from the advice and work of people like Neville Goddard and Bob Proctor. But the way he taught it seemed tangible, he explained the science and the reason why it worked and I liked that. So I was so excited to go to this 3 day event and instead of having Dr Joe for an hour or so from a podcast I'd have him for 3 days and experience his work first hand in his catered environment. Most of all, I was excited to do his meditations LIVE!

Day 1: A Quick Intro

I arrive early with my boyfriend to secure the best seats we can. We have gold passes so we were able to get some seats in the 4th row. As the start of the conference neared, the music increasingly got louder, which was  apparently our queue to get up and start dancing. Dr Joe enters the stage and he is wearing his signature black on black uniform and he invites us to sit down. He explains to us that this weekend is about us and makes us vow to give it our best. Our schedule would consist of  learning about how the brain works, how thoughts work and then using this knowledge in our meditations.

Day 2: Deep Dive

We arrive nice and early, snacks and nightshades packed and ready to learn and get our meditation on! Fortunately, we secured great seats again and we are super excited! Today is all about manifestation meditation. Important notes:

  • To change is to think, act and feel differently in the same environment.

  • You want to map out your future reality

  • Theta brain activity is associated with being relaxed in the heart and awake in the brain.

  • Humans are more energy than matter and where you place your attention is where you place your energy.

  • When we are in our waking state we are bombarded with thoughts of our past and our future and we need to quiet those thoughts to make room in our brains for the unknown. And the unknown is usually where surprises and serendipity moments happen, for example when you think about a miracle moment that just “happened out of nowhere”.

  • The feelings of wanting to be important, guilt, resentment, frustration and lack are addictions and they are tied to things and people in our environment.

  • We need to lower the volume of the emotion attached to the things in our life.

  • When you remove all your energy from your 3D reality you can get more information from the unseen.

  • When meditating:

    • We have all these thoughts that come into our mind that take away our attention (our energy)

    • We need to catch ourselves and bring back the energy to us

    • This can be done by lowering the volume of the emotion

    • When we do this we are able to access infinite possibilities

  • Our brain is constantly firing thoughts, analyzing, planning, stressing. It’s often stuck in survival mode (thinking about the past and/or fearing the future).

  • Your heart is the emotional center—it has its own electromagnetic field (measurable with science) and actually sends signals to the brain about how you feel.

  • If your brain is overactive and filled with worry, your heart stays out of sync—meaning you feel scattered, stressed, and stuck.

  • Fall in love with the unknown- trust the process of life instead of over analyzing

    • The unknown is where infinite possibilities exist. But most people resist it because they want certainty.

    • When you surrender to the unknown with your heart (instead of just your mind), your body shifts from fear to trust.

  • When you sit in meditation, visualize, or simply focus on love, gratitude, or trust, your heart emits a stronger electromagnetic field.

    • This energy then influences the brain, shifting it into a higher, more creative and intuitive state.

    • Now, instead of overthinking, you’re feeling and trusting. This creates a feedback loop where your brain and heart work together, making manifestation, healing, and transformation much easier.

  • You must be so good at doing this with your eyes closed that you can do it with your eyes open.

  • There are infinite potential realities for us in the quantum field and because the quantum field contains energy and information, it holds all possible versions of reality—every possible outcome for your life already exists as a potential.

    • When we focus our thoughts and emotions on a specific future, we "collapse" that potential into reality.

  • When we do a manifestation meditation it's important to write down what our clear intentions are and what the expected elevated emotions we would feel once those circumstances are realized. For example:

    • Clear intention:

      • Business that makes money

      • Work from anywhere

      • Make a difference

      • Work with cultural creatives

      • Can be sold

    • Elevated emotions:

      • Joy

      • Gratitude

      • Freedom

      • Worthy to receive

  • When we meditate we focus on feeling the emotions, we feel the connection to it and send it out from the brain; the energy is what matters

  • Draw the experience to you with your heart sending the message out with your brain.

  • It’s very important that we cannot obsess about when or how these things would occur, because that would be known and we want to focus on the unknown.

And then we have our first meditation. We don't have a schedule so we don't know when or how long the meditations will be. I was so excited, but it was so long and I was not expecting that, thatI fell asleep! Ha! It was pretty funny. I was so consumed with making sure I was doing it right and focusing on having the same kind of experience I normally have when I do his meditations which is usually a profound heart centered burst of feelings.

He guided us into the “unknown” and then I dozed off several times. Trying to get myself back into the unknown every time I woke up again. After the meditation I was thinking how did that happen?! I remember waking up that day feeling a bit stressed wanting to arrive early enough to the conference to secure nice seats as it was first come first serve. While waiting in the line for the doors to open I remember I was very preoccupied with the people around me. Watching and listening. And I felt kind of uncomfortable in general to be around so many people! Nonetheless I made a promise to myself that I was going to do better in the next meditation and I wasn't going to fall asleep!

After our lunch break (catered by Wolfgang Puck, a steak and quinoa salad) I fuel up on coffee and get ready to have a great meditation. We dive in again (another 1 hour meditation)  after some more Dr Joe explanations. I fell asleep again… I felt ok and thought maybe I just needed to make sure I sleep well tonight so I can have a great experience next time.

Day 3: The Aha Moment

Today, I remembered what Joe said and I preserved my energy. I wasn't thinking about the past, the future. I was calm in the morning and was focused on the present moment. In the line I was not paying attention to anyone and I kept my thoughts on myself. During our first meditation, this time it lasted for 20 minutes, I was awake and had a fantastic experience. We learned about the importance of writing our intention down and the emotions associated with achieving that vision. And he guided us and it felt amazing. I was transported into a feeling of love and gratitude and felt considerably calm and present following it. I noticed my boyfriend was yawning the whole day and I was not tired one bit! I think I was preserving my energy well!

Then we had a review of some principles:

  • When you put attention on your heart (being relaxed in your heart) you're giving energy to your heart and it automatically starts to slow down and your parasympathetic nervous system increases.

  • Goal is to be relaxed in the heart and awake in the brain all day.

    • Relaxed in the heart  → This means living in a state of love, gratitude, joy, and peace, rather than stress or fear. When the heart is calm, it sends coherent, rhythmic signals to the brain, which enhances our ability to think clearly and feel emotionally balanced.

    • Awake in the brain  → This means being alert, focused, and aware, not lost in autopilot or negative subconscious patterns. A wakeful brain allows us to respond intentionally rather than react emotionally.

  • There is a lot of doing in the 3D reality because we are creating from lack so we end up acquiring new things like a new car, a new degree etc.

    • 3D Reality → This is the physical world where we experience time, space, and matter. Everything feels separate, so if we want something (money, success, love), we think we have to work hard, push, or hustle to get it.

    • Creating from Lack → Most people take action because they feel they don’t have enough (not enough money, love, success, health, etc.). This mindset of lack forces them to chase external things—a new car, a degree, a better job—thinking those things will finally make them feel happy or whole.

  • The problem with this approach however is that external achievements don’t truly fulfill us → The cycle never ends because once we get what we want, we quickly move on to wanting the next thing.

  • It takes more time and effort → Creating in the 3D world relies on physical action, which is slower and requires more struggle.

  • We can create from the inside out by shifting our energy and aligning with what we desire before it even shows up. This is done through:

    • Feeling the emotions of already having what we want (joy, love, abundance)

    • Meditation & Visualization to tune into the energy of our desired reality

    • Trusting the unknown rather than needing to control everything

  • By doing this, we attract opportunities and experiences effortlessly instead of constantly working, struggling, and grinding for them. This is how miracles, synchronicities, and fast manifestations happen.

  • Instead of working hard to get something, we become the person who already has it—and reality rearranges itself to match our new energy.

  • If you feel something is separate from you, you will always be chasing it.

    • Must feel it NOW.

  • Don’t let your outer environment make you slip back into the subconscious.

  • Our daily thoughts and actions are driven by:

    • 95% your subconscious mind

    • 5% your conscious mind

  • Your Outer Environment = Triggers & Familiar PatternsYour external reality—things like your job, relationships, social media, and daily stressors—can trigger old emotional responses, habits, and thoughts stored in your subconscious.

  • Slipping Back into the Subconscious = Auto-Pilot LivingIf you're not fully present and aware, you'll unconsciously react to your environment in the same way you always have, reinforcing old patterns. This means you'll continue to think the same thoughts, feel the same emotions, and make the same choices—ultimately creating the same reality.

  • The Key to Change: Stay in the 5%To create a new reality, you must stay conscious and intentional. This means:

    • Observing your thoughts instead of letting them run on autopilot.

    • Responding differently to situations instead of reacting the same way.

    • Practicing mindfulness, meditation, and visualization to rewire your brain.

The Pineal Gland Breath

We learned that cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is not just a protective and nourishing fluid for the brain and spinal cord but also a carrier of energy. Dr Joe’s idea is that through a specific breathing technique, known as the Pineal Gland Breath, we can create movement in the CSF, sending it up the spine to stimulate the pineal gland, leading to heightened states of awareness, euphoria, and even mystical experiences.

How Does This Work?

  1. The Role of CSF – CSF flows through the spine and around the brain, delivering nutrients and removing waste. Joe suggests that this fluid also carries energy and information from the base of the spine (root chakra) up to the brain.

  2. The Pineal Gland – Often called the “third eye,” the pineal gland is thought to regulate sleep and wakefulness, but Joe Dispenza believes it also acts as a spiritual antenna, receiving frequencies beyond our normal perception.

  3. The Pineal Gland Breath Technique

    • This breathing method involves contracting the lower muscles (like the pelvic floor and lower abdomen) while deeply inhaling through the nose.

    • As you inhale, you mentally push the CSF upward along the spine, visualizing energy moving toward the brain.

    • Once the fluid reaches the pineal gland, it’s said to cause a piezoelectric effect (mechanical pressure stimulating electricity), which “activates” the gland.

    • This activation is associated with intense bliss, deep meditation, and even mystical experiences.

So we tried it and I think most of the room was pretty confused! We did the best we could and broke for lunch, a chicken salad with wild rice from Wolfgang Puck and some tea.

After lunch we learned about some beliefs that we may have naturally like:

  1. I have to work hard to be successful

  2. God doesn't love me

  3. I never have enough time

  4. Some “one” has to make me happy

  5. God is outside of me

  6. I am bad and God doesn't love me

  7. Life is very serious

  8. It’s hard to change or create reality

  9. Things never go my way

  10. I am a lot like my parents

  11. I am not smart or creative

  12. I gain weight easily

  13. I need 8 hours of sleep

  14. I am not good enough to make my dreams come true

A reason we may have these is because of long term memory, the stronger the emotion the longer the memory, your body takes a screenshot of that moment.

  • When a memory is repeatedly re-lived, the emotion gets stored in the body.

  • Your body starts reacting as if the past is happening NOW (even if it’s not).

  • If we keep holding onto old emotional memories, we keep living in the past and repeating the same behaviors.

  • To change, we must break the emotional attachment and teach the body a new state of being (gratitude, joy, abundance instead of fear or lack).

  • We don't get what we are not wired to perceive.

  • Life = knowledge -> experience -> emotion -> understanding -> wisdom ->evolution

  • Memories = thoughts + feelings

ree

Before the next mediation we were shown some inspiring videos of humans completing incredible feets like a female runner who fell right before her last lap on the track and got up and still beat everyone in her competition. A man with no legs and arms living an exciting and inspirational life doing things like surfing and traveling around the world. A preacher in church preaching about how some people let what someone did to them 38 years ago affect them today! It was echoes of Dr Joe’s teachings and a reminder of how amazing the human race is and I thought, “I'm so proud to be of our species! We are so incredible!”. And we truly are. Hearts beating, lungs breathing and an immune system that fights off infection without us even knowing or controlling. It's amazing we are truly wonderful just as we are.

Then something incredible happened. Joe brought up 7 people from his team to show us how to do the pineal gland activation breath. He warned us that some people even pass out during this breathing exercise and sure enough a gentleman did. He passed out doing this breathing technique right in front of us. People were having involuntary movements and twitching and almost being catatonic it was incredible and quite shocking. My boyfriend was spooked! He looked at me very worried. As for me, I have never seen anything like it before but I didn’t let it get to me. I just planned to look up what I just witnessed later and learn about it and when I did I learned that spontaneous involuntary movements during some breathing exercises or mediation are called Kriyas and are quite normal and common. Sometimes you're left with an increased amount of heat or energy. It is said that you are releasing stress in the body and can sometimes be used to reach different states of consciousness. Some well known figures in the medication space have been known to do this practice on a daily basis but often behind closed doors. Understandable, as it can sometimes be very freaky to people who have not had any experience with this.

We were then led into the pineal gland activation breath and into the medication of changing a limiting belief. I chose: you have to work hard to be successful. And wow, my belief was so wrong. After tapping into the unknown and the feeling of the opposite belief: I am successful and success comes easy to me. I started having these visions of myself with so many awards, my parents telling me they are proud of me. I was transported back to highschool where people were saying hi to me and smiling at me and I felt important and loved and grateful. Flooded with emotions, all the memories of me being successful came to me. My pharmacy school graduation, buying my first house, traveling all over the world, getting my dream car, overcoming all the challenges in my life and I believed I AM SUCCESSFUL! And I started crying, wow. How incredible.

Then thoughts came to me about how there are so many opportunities and things to be grateful for. I was as you can say seeing the world from a glass half full perspective and I was so excited and happy and grateful. I changed a limiting belief inside of me, I can't believe I did it! I am successful and I thought holy shit, everyone is successful one way or the other. If you went to school or overcame anything in your life you are successful and it even comes down to the very beginning of if you were born you are successful!!! There are so many things in your life you can look at and say you were successful. My perspective changed. And that's what Joe is teaching. If you change your thoughts, then your beliefs will change then your perspective. How incredible. I'm so excited to change more limiting beliefs. I am so incredibly motivated.

After learning about this, we did the blessing of the energy center's meditation. I learned that I have control and the ability to improve any part of my body and put in alignment my energy centers or chakras. An incredible feeling, in my meditation, I was licking my eyeballs clean to give myself new clear eyesight. I was spraying and wiping down my brain, removing the weeds and flossing the cavities. I was massaging my stomach and allowing it to be clean and energized again. I loved the vivid imagination my mind was ensuing in order for me to clear and align these energy centers appropriately and it gave me a further sense of appreciation for my body and my mind.

Final Thoughts

The conference was indeed an experience that I will always remember. It reminded me why as a human being I am amazing. It brought back all the reasons why I am capable of so much in life. Because of the world of social media we can easily begin to compare ourselves with others and forget what we have and who we are, how amazing we are with our very own accomplishments- the power we hold just by being ourselves.

It’s wonderful to get away for a few days to be reminded of that and to learn and to be surrounded by others that want to do the same. My only job now is to keep reminding myself of the amazing lessons I learned and to be a physical representation of it. I hope to pass along these teachings to my children not as a teacher but simply as an example. If I could recommend anything after this conference is to make time for yourself. To remember how amazing you truly are, don't ever lose sight of that. You are incredible just the way you are and once you recognize that, all the things you've ever dreamed of will begin to flow to you so easily and naturally.

Because you are enough and everything you want is within you.
